- How much will I make? This depends on many factors. The primary factor is what type of car you have. We find that newer vehicles with fewer miles are rented more often, and they are rented at higher rates. Seasonality also plays a role. In the winter, customers are often looking for vehicles that handle well in the snow. The typical range is anywhere from $600 – $1000 a month.
- How much does FS Motorcars keep? We handle all of the legwork, which includes expenses such as car washes, parking fees, delivery fees, etc. After accounting for those costs, we split the remaining amount with you 50/50. So, for example, if a car makes $2000 in total rental fees for the month, and expenses total $400, we would send you 50% of the profit ($800).
- Who usually rents your vehicles? We see a solid mix of vacationers and business travelers. Most rentals happen over weekends, say from Thursday – Monday. But we often see business travelers renting on weekdays.
- Will this affect my ownership of the vehicle? No. You will remain the owner/leaseholder of your vehicle. You give us your vehicle for as long as you want us to rent it for you, and can take it back anytime.
- What happens if my vehicle gets damaged? If your vehicle is involved in an accident while it is being rented by a customer, this will be covered by insurance from the rental platform, so your personal vehicle insurance should not be impacted. For minor cosmetic damage, we work with the customer to cover the cost of any repairs (were damage is greater than normal wear and tear). We are meticulous about taking before and after photos so that we have evidence. Most customers are great about covering the costs, but the photos are helpful in case we need to take further action.
- How far will my car be driven during a rental period? The maximum amount of miles per day allowed is 200 miles per day. You can opt to have mileage limits removed as vehicles without mileage restrictions tend to get rented more often. However, we understand that you may not want someone driving your car to Florida. If someone drives over their allotment of miles for the trip we will reimbursement you an amount per mile dependent on the value of the vehicle.
- Where will my vehicle be kept while it’s not being rented? We have an agreement with a parking lot near the airport to park our vehicles. The lot has 24/7 staff on duty, as well as security cameras. We have never had a vehicle damaged while parked at the lot.
- Can I refer a friend? Absolutely! In fact, if you refer someone to us and we end up renting their vehicle for at least 30 days, we’ll pay you an extra $100 that month.
